The Mumbai ice cream institution worth every bite of the queue

📍 Mulund, Mumbai ⏱ 3 min read 📅 March 2026 ★★★★☆ 4/5

The Vibe

Natural Ice Cream has no atmosphere to speak of — a busy counter, a long display case of flavours, and a queue of people who know exactly what they want. Pure function. You pick your flavour, you get your scoop, you eat it standing up. That's the experience. And somehow that simplicity is part of what makes it special.

🗺️ How to Reach

🚇
By Train

Take the Central Line to Mulund Station. About 8–10 minutes on foot. Exit from the main road side and walk towards the market area.

🚗
By Car / Rickshaw

From the Eastern Express Highway take the Mulund exit and head into the main market. Street parking available, competitive in the evening.

💡 Tip: Avoid 7pm on weekends — the queue can be 20 minutes. Go at 5:30pm or after 9pm for a smoother experience.

🍽️ What to Eat

Mango Turbo
₹120
Must Order

A generous scoop of real Alphonso mango ice cream — thick enough to stand on the cone, intensely flavoured with actual mango pulp. Best in April–June at the peak of Alphonso season. Cold, dense, and nothing like anything made from essence.

Sitaphal (Custard Apple)
₹130
Seasonal Gem

Available September–November. Made with real sitaphal pulp — slightly grainy, floral, not overly sweet. One of those flavours completely impossible to replicate artificially. If it's in season, order this over everything else.

Rajbhog
₹110
Year-Round Favourite

Saffron-infused ice cream with subtle sweetness and a denser texture than the fruit flavours. Flecks of pistachio throughout. The most consistently excellent flavour available year-round.

📝 The Full Experience

Natural Ice Cream has been a Mumbai institution for decades, and the Mulund outlet carries the standard faithfully.

I visited on a Saturday evening in April — peak Alphonso mango season. The queue was about 12 people deep. Worth it.

The Mango Turbo arrived in a cup. It was genuinely thick — not soft-serve consistency but a proper dense scoop that holds its shape. Deep yellow-orange. The first spoon confirmed everything: actual Alphonso mango. No artificial flavour, no padding. Just concentrated, cold, clean mango.

I had a second cup. I regret absolutely nothing.
